Our History & Heritage
Michael Nitro developed his first golf club prototypes in his garage workshop. A tinkerer at heart, Michael experimented endlessly to find the optimum combination of materials and design to generate more power and accuracy.
When Michael finally created a driver that outperformed the big brands’ clubs in robot swing testing, he knew he was onto something special. Excited golfing buddies spread the word, soon friends of friends wanted in on Michael’s magical metal woods.
In 1985, Michael Nitro officially established Nitro Golf, with the mission of offering well-engineered, affordable golf equipment directly to consumers.
Michael’s very first product lineup included the epic King Cobra Driver and Runway Fairway Woods. Groundbreaking perimeter weighting expanded the sweet spot while a graphite shaft boosted swing speeds. The King Cobra lived up to its name and quickly gained a reputation as the longest, most forgiving driver on the market.

Our Facility
Nitro Golf’s global headquarters and manufacturing facility is located in Chino Hills, California. This sprawling 125,000 square foot complex houses our executive offices, advanced R&D labs, two state-of-the-art factory floors, as well as our tour operations, fitting center and photo studio.
Our team of engineers, designers, and master club builders work together in our Chino Hills facility to take concepts from ideation to finished products. The latest CAD software allows virtual prototyping while our fully-equipped machine shop transforms designs into functional models. We meticulously analyze new equipment using robot swing testing, computer simulations and player feedback.
Once a design is finalized, it moves to our production floor to be assembled by hand. Our experienced technicians expertly shape, mill, grind, polish and finish each club head before precisely bonding it to a premium shaft. Every component – from forged titanium driver heads to our proprietary Surlyn-covered golf balls – is manufactured in-house to our strict specifications.
This vertically integrated operation allows Nitro Golf to closely control quality and tune performance at every step. We take pride in crafting all our gear entirely in California. Our Chino Hills facility ensures we can quickly implement innovations and respond to golfer needs.

Our Giving Back Program
Golf has given us so much over the past 35 years. We feel it’s our responsibility to pay that gift forward. That’s why we established the Nitro Golf Gives Back program in 2010.
Nitro Golf Gives Back donates a portion of every purchase to youth golf initiatives and non-profit organizations geared at making golf more accessible. Over the past decade, we’ve contributed $5 million to programs that promote golf at the junior level.
